Why Should I Believe in Jesus? Part 2
This section should take about 8 to 10 minutes when played without stopping.
Evidence of Impact on Other Religions
Several major world religions made a place for Jesus in their beliefs after Christianity became widespread. While these views differ from the biblical understanding, they demonstrate His global impact.
For example, Hinduism includes Jesus as a divine figure, and Islam recognizes Him as a prophet and coming messiah. Though these perspectives differ from the Bible, they show that Jesus has influenced billions of people worldwide.
This widespread recognition suggests that Jesus has made a profound impact on history and culture.
Historical Evidence of Jesus
Historical documentation also supports the existence of Jesus.
One important source is the first-century historian Flavius Josephus, who was not a Christian. He referred to “Jesus who is called Christ” and documented events involving His followers.
Josephus also wrote about figures like John the Baptist and King Herod, aligning with New Testament accounts.
These writings are considered early non-Christian historical references to Jesus and support the reliability of the biblical timeline.
Evidence from Christian Apologetics
Over time, many writers have presented evidence and reasoning for believing in Jesus. This field is known as Christian apologetics.
The term “apologetics” originally meant presenting a reasoned case for something. Today, it includes books, studies, and research that explore evidence for Christianity.
These resources provide a wide range of perspectives and arguments supporting belief in Jesus.
What Are Not Good Reasons for Believing?
There are many good reasons to believe in Jesus. However, even imperfect or unusual reasons can lead someone to genuine faith.
For example, I first responded to Jesus in a moment that was not entirely serious—but it led to a real and lasting relationship.
Over time, that initial step became a sincere and meaningful commitment.
The important point is that God can work through imperfect beginnings.
However, negative approaches—such as fear, pressure, or manipulation—are not good ways to encourage belief.
The message of Jesus is positive and should be shared in a positive way.
Personal Experience
My own journey began as a teenager. After hearing about Jesus and reflecting on it for several days, I eventually made the decision to believe.
That moment marked the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Him.
Looking back, I can see how God guided that process step by step.
Even though my initial motivation was not perfect, the result was real and lasting.
Conclusion
Any reason that leads to a genuine relationship with Jesus can become a good reason.
The most important step is to believe.
From there, understanding and growth will follow.
